Driving on low fuel can have several negative effects on your car. Here are a few reasons why it’s generally considered bad for your vehicle:

Fuel Pump Damage
The fuel pump is a mechanical device that depends on the fuel to keep it cool and lubricated. It is normally buried in the fuel tank of modern cars. The fuel pump may overheat if you drive with very little fuel because it may be in contact with air. This might cause the fuel pump to quickly wear out over time and possibly fail, costing money to replace.
Dirt Accumulation
At the bottom of the fuel tank, particles, and pollutants may build up over time. The particles may be mixed up and pushed into the fuel system while you drive with low fuel levels. They may block the fuel filter, the fuel injectors, or other parts, reducing performance as well as requiring expensive repairs.
Fuel System Damage:
In modern fuel-injected cars, the fuel system operates under a certain level of pressure. When you have low fuel, the system may struggle to maintain the required pressure, and this can cause air to enter the fuel lines. The proper functioning of the engine can be disturbed by air bubbles in the fuel system, which can cause misfires, difficult idle time, or even stoppage.

Rust and Condensation:
Fuel tanks are designed to minimize the accumulation of moisture. However, when the fuel level is low, there is more empty space in the tank where condensation can occur. Moisture can cause the tank and other fuel system parts to rust, which could result in leaks or dirty fuel.
Fuel gauge inaccuracy
petrol gauges are not always completely accurate, and driving on low fuel might make it challenging to calculate how much petrol is still in the tank. This may raise your chance of quickly running out of petrol and becoming stuck.
It’s normally advised to keep your petrol tank at least a quarter full or follow the recommendations of the manufacturer of your vehicle for maintaining the health of the car and avoiding any problems.
